Are you ready to join our Mastermind?

TL;DR — An opportunity to participate in a group of peers to better learn how to overcome professional and personal challenges.

What is a Mastermind Group?

THE BIGGER PICTURE

The higher we advance in our careers, the fewer peers we have that we can really open up to, and yet, the need for such peers can increase as we encounter challenges that we did not anticipate or experience on the way up or learn about in professional certification, education, or mentorship. As HR leaders, most of us got where we are by knowing how to deal with our employees but not how to deal with our strategic relationships with our company’s leadership or sudden shifts in our work environment, or extreme challenges.

Some examples:

  • How many of us were plunged into remote work as a result of COVID?  How valuable would it have been to have had peers who had “remote work” as a part of their daily life already?

  • How many of us have been faced with an acquisition?  Whether the need to assimilate a new team or the need to assimilate “to” a new team?  How great would it be to have a support network for things you didn’t already know?

Suppose an employee reports being physically threatened by a peer or leader?  We think we know how we would respond, but who can we turn to for “street smarts”?

We don’t know what we need to know until it happens to us.

As a Mastermind group, we commit to the concept that “none of us is as smart as all of us” (thanks to Ken Blanchard for this quote).  One month you might be the one seeking wisdom, and another month you might be the one sharing wisdom.  Mastermind groups are about “we” not “me”.

In a Mastermind, you will be part of a group and are encouraged to connect privately with other participants.  We seek to nourish and promote individual relationships.

PURPOSE:

  • To build a community of peers who want to learn, grow and support one another, over time.

  • To become more effective in our professional lives without sacrificing the quality of our personal lives.

  • To build on the concept that becoming a more impactful leader is fuelled by being a more fulfilled person.

  • We seek to inspire others.  We believe that professional leadership results from personal leadership, not vice versa.  We model what we promote.

  • To create a safe space to share challenges and wisdom with each other.

  • To be willing to be challenged on our assumptions and be open to learning new skills, strategies and perspectives; only in this environment will others willingly share.

GROUP SIZE AND STRUCTURE

The group consists of 6-12 professional members with 1 - 2 facilitator coaches. The group meets online once per month for 90 - 120 minutes (depending on group size) on the same day and time each month. Meetings are scheduled a year in advance, however, participation may be terminated at any time by any participant or by the facilitators. Termination by facilitators will only be based on attendance, quality of engagement, and payment of subscriptions.

WHAT TOOLS WILL BE SHARED IN THE FIRST SESSION?

While many of these skills are well-known to us, we will start out by learning a common methodology so that participants have common expectations of one another.

Listening skills - are you really listening to learn or are you waiting for your turn to talk?

Feedback skills - deliver “actionable” feedback that “feeds” relationships, creating a culture of asking for and offering timely actionable feedback without judgment.

Navigating uncomfortable conversations with non-reactive actionable steps.

Communicating vision.

Creative and purposeful problem-solving.

Defining values for the group.

WHAT IS THE COST/COMMITMENT?

COST:

The monthly subscription is $500 with a 3-month prepaid minimum.  After which you may cancel without penalty at any time.  Monthly subscriptions are thereafter payable monthly, in advance.

COMMITMENT:

You will agree to be an active participant - you will bring topics to discuss and will share wisdom as relevant.

You will speak up if the group is not working for you - we will demonstrate how to give actionable feedback, to fellow participants and the facilitators, as needed.

You agree to attend at least 2 out of every 3 meetings.

You will maintain absolute confidentiality.  What is said in the group is NOT to be repeated outside of the group.
