10 Things to do This Holiday Season OTHER Than Social Media

It's "the most wonderful time of the year", but are you really enjoying it? Don't let the holiday season slip away while you scroll mindlessly through your social media feeds. Give yourself the gift of a screen-free break and indulge in some activities that will refresh and recharge your batteries. We’re sharing 10 of our favorite ways to detach from the digital world in December:

1. Go for a Walk - Holiday Style:

Bundle up, lace up those boots, and hit the great outdoors. Take a stroll through your neighborhood or a nearby park and admire the twinkling lights, the crisp air, and the festive decorations. It's like a free ticket to your own personal wonderland where you get to connect with nature and see the joy that everyone has the opportunity to give and receive.

2. Spend Time with Community:

Keep an eye out for local events! Many communities host free get togethers, such as parades, movie screenings, concerts in the park, light shows, and more. Join in the communal spirit and togetherness in person, rather than online.

3. DIY Decor:

Challenge your brain and creative side, and get crafty. Go through your house for spare supplies and create something new. I prefer to let off creative steam by making glass and jewelry.  Let your creativity run wild -- what can you create when you let yourself be free?

4. Storytelling Marathon:

Gather 'round! Tell stories to your friends and family, whether they are holiday stories and traditions, or something completely off the wall. Heartwarming, hilarious, or even a little sad, storytelling is a timeless tradition that costs absolutely nothing but brings everyone closer together.

5. Stargazing:

It’s time for nature's free show! Grab a blanket, head outside, and gaze at the stars. Use this moment to take time for introspection and thinking about what you are grateful for. There’s a big galaxy out there that you have the privilege to partake in -- it can truly take your breath away!

6. Random Acts of Kindness:

December is not the only time to be in a giving mood or spread kindness. Take some time to volunteer, help a neighbor or family member, or simply tell someone how grateful you are for them or that their presence shines for everyone they meet. Small acts of kindness can make a big difference.

7. Music & Dance Party:

Create your own dance floor! Blast your favorite tunes and dance like nobody's watching. It's an instant mood-lifter and a fantastic way to bring joy and activity into your life without much effort.

8. Create Your Own DIY Spa Day:

Self-care can truly make the difference in your work-life balance. Take some time to pamper yourself with a spa day at home. Whether you choose to purchase or make your own items, take the time to indulge in some self-care rituals that can melt away any worries you might have.

9. Be Social:

This might seem like a no-brainer, but you can be social without social media! Schedule a coffee date, lunch, or dinner with some friends or family members, and enjoy some face to face time without phones getting in the way of your time together. What different types of conversation can you have when there are no electronics to lean on?
